Marius J. Heersink
Cataract, Refractive and Laser-Vision Correction Specialist
A Dothan native, Marius J. Heersink graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science through the Early Medical School Acceptance Program (EMSAP). He continued his studies at UAB earning his Dual Medical Doctorate and MBA from the Heersink School of Medicine and Collat School of Business respectively in 2020. During his tenure he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society, conferred the Collat School of Business’s Outstanding MBA Student Award, and served as President of the UAB chapter of the Benjamin Rush Society (2016-2019). Upon graduation from Medical/Business school he completed a one-year medical/surgical transitional residency at Mount Carmel in Columbus, Ohio. In 2024, he completed his residency at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where his focus was Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Cornea/Refractive Surgery.
His research is featured in several prominent industry-leading publications including Review of Ophthalmology, Clinical Ophthalmology and The American Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports.
In addition to his academic and medical pursuits, Dr. Marius Heersink is an FAA-licensed Commercial Airplane pilot. His hobbies include playing sports and being a fitness enthusiast. Dr. Heersink and his wife reside in Dothan, Alabama.
