The Dangers of High Eye Pressure
High eye pressure is a key indicator of the medical condition known as Glaucoma. In individuals with Glaucoma, there is an abnormally high amount of pressure placed on the optic nerve. This, however, can be diagnosed very easily by an instrument called a tonometer. Once the level of pressure is assessed an individualized treatment plan can begin.
Although Glaucoma typically has no early warning signs, if you are experiencing symptoms such as loss of peripheral vision or tunnel vision you should schedule an eye pressure evaluation immediately. Prevention is always the best medicine and regular eye exams are imperative in maintaining healthy eyes.
